chic s-plus Top-Fans introduce themselves

Who are we?

Hello from the Black Forest. We are Monika (71) and Gerd (76), both pensioners and in great shape, with plenty of time to go on holiday. Our crew includes Sina, our almost 15-year-old Parsons Russell Terier dog. Our hobby during our service was sailing on the Baltic Sea. There we also discovered our love for Scandinavia. Again and again we said that when we retired we would rent a motorhome and travel to these countries. Unfortunately, we had to give up sailing for health reasons.

How did we come to Carthago?

When a family friend told us a few years ago that he had bought a great motorhome and asked us if we would like to go for a ride, we happily accepted. We really enjoyed the ride in the chic e-line. The ambience, the interior and the driving experience were top notch. The spatial restrictions were familiar to us from sailing. The decision was made: we would test and rent a motorhome.

Why a chic s-plus?

Our first Carthago was a fully equipped chic e-line, with which we were very satisfied. Until we decided to take a Smart, on a trailer, on our tours. In the mountains and wet pitches, the front-wheel drive quickly reached its limits. On our way back from South Tyrol, we made a stop in Aulendorf and described our experience with the front-wheel drive. It was obvious which recommendation followed: a rear-wheel drive vehicle. After a test drive with the chic s-plus I 50 LE, our decision to buy was made. After 2 years we decided to buy a chic s-plus I 52 QB (65 C) with a new interior design. My wife was thrilled with the new bright, modern design and the redesigned kitchen. We were convinced by the cosy feeling, the large storage space, the very high load capacity, the comfort of the fixed toilet, the gas tank and the superbly tuned engine/gearbox combination in conjunction with the rear-wheel drive. In our opinion, Iveco only has room for improvement in the suspension comfort of the front axle. We can have maintenance and necessary adjustments carried out professionally by the service centre in Aulendorf.

The handover in Aulendorf

On 16 March 2020, we exchanged the motorhome. The day on which the first lockdown was decided. The handover was very good and comprehensive. Our sales consultant Stephan N. had a lot of patience. Although we already knew many functions, we had many questions. We had to wait until Whitsun for the first ride. Then we went to the Zugspitz Resort Grainau. One of our favourite places.

Our planning 2022

Our Carlo 3 is currently still hibernating in its garage. After the inspection at Iveco in February, we will go to Aulendorf at the beginning of March for the annual inspection, leak test and gas test. If Corona allows it, we want to start in the direction of South Tyrol. In the course of the summer we will go to Norway and then to Sexten. In autumn we will go to Tuscany. Reports and pictures will follow.
