Campsite presentation: Feddet Strand Resort in Denmark
Halfway between the ferry port of Rødby on the Vogelflug Line and the lovely Danish capital of Copenhagen lies a peninsula called Feddet. Despite being halfway and half an island, however, Feddet Strand Resort is anything but half a thing.
Feddet Strand Resort is special in many respects: It is the location that is probably unique. The camping site is located on a narrow peninsula stretching far out into the Baltic Sea, one could also say on a broad headland that is largely left in its natural state. In fact, it is being deliberately returned to nature more and more, since the farms that used to live there have been abandoned. Little by little, these are being demolished to make way for glamping sites with a special flair. In the old days, there was also a small harbour here, from which the stones extracted from a quarry near Faxe were shipped on small barges. This small harbour now serves as an enchanted, romantic mooring for guest boats. Here on the wooden jetty you can experience wonderful sunsets.
The mixed forest, partly dense, in the camping area rather light, is home to many animals and you can easily encounter deer standing unperturbed on the footpath and looking curiously. Other animals, like the Icelandic horses, serve for rides or are there to be petted, like the goats. Cattle and sheep keep the undergrowth short. Migratory birds rest at the end of the peninsula. They can be photographed from a wooden observation tower. Feddet can also do other things: with an indoor swimming pool, special playgrounds - including a huge climbing net stretched between trees - and adventure mini-golf, the facility is excellently equipped.
Where else do you have the opportunity to practice e-motocross, i.e. off-road riding with electric motorbikes, under expert guidance? The machines are available in different sizes so that even slightly older children can test their cross skills. The gaming room is also unparalleled. And then there's the eternally long Baltic Sea sandy beach, which is a beautiful attraction in all seasons: In summer for swimming and bathing, then there are also inflatable playground equipment in the water, and in spring, autumn and winter for long walks. Since the campsite enjoys the privilege of this exceptional natural location, the site management feels particularly committed to environmental protection and follows ecological management. This does not mean any sacrifices for the guests, but it does mean the absence of design experiments. The architecture can best be described as functional. The sanitary facilities, for example, offer neither marble nor golden taps, but are Scandinavian sober, practical and bright. Typically Danish are the guest kitchens and family bathrooms, which are spotlessly clean but also lack wow effects.
Feddet Strand Resort, for all its seclusion and rural idyll, is excellently connected: It is only a stone's throw from the E47 motorway and about an hour's drive from both the ferry port of Rødby and the capital Copenhagen. This means that both arrival and departure are quite easy to manage, even with large motorhomes. But beware: the very last few kilometres are on quite narrow roads - not a challenge, but still to be driven with foresight, so as to let the very rare oncoming traffic pass by at a suitable spot. The small town of Faxe, which is close to the camping resort, is famous for its beer. Well, cheers to Feddet Strand!
