Quite hyggelig - the Danish definition of luxury camping. Hyggelig means cosy. It is one of the most important Danish words. Because cosiness is particularly important to the happiest people in Europe. Hvidbjerg Strand Feriepark is so far the only campsite in the whole of Europe to have been officially awarded six stars. What is the meaning of this star blessing?
Hvidbjerg Strand has been part of the LeadingCampings of Europe since 1995, one year after its foundation. It is a family business, and the third generation is currently involved in the business. That is why the care for guests is extremely personal. But Hvidbjerg Strand Feriepark is also a trendsetter and a source of ideas for the entire industry: today, the holiday park is a full-range tourism provider. There is camping at its best on plots of up to 250 square metres, which even have a private bathroom at the pitch. There are simple, typically Scandinavian "hytter" accommodations, but also a great Wild West holiday village, glamping in fisherman's houses with thatched roofs, luxury holiday flats called beach villas with a full-glass front over two floors and, last but not least, the beach hotel, which opened in 2017.
Nevertheless, Hvidbjerg Strand Feriepark is first and foremost a campsite where you always feel at home with your motorhome or van. Its facilities are exemplary in every respect. As usual in Denmark, the guest kitchens are among the highlights - Danes don't cook in their caravans, but like to cook with other families. And they prefer to do so with top-of-the-line household appliances. The sanitary facilities are equally exemplary. The range of sports, games and entertainment is truly outstanding, and not only families with children benefit from this. From the indoor play park to the climbing wall to the indoor fun pool with black hole slide, a large part of the offer is even weather-independent.
The more mature generation of campers will enjoy endless walks on the beach or fishing in the campsite's own fishing water. Don't miss out on a climb to the Blåvands Fyr lighthouse, the panoramic view is magnificent. The region is also a cyclist's paradise. The Blåvands Kurbad og Wellness is unique. Aesthetic architecture, expert staff and a wide range of bathing, sauna and treatment options combine to create a wish-less-happiness concept.
It almost goes without saying that the culinary offer at Hvidbjerg Strand Feriepark is impressive: From the well-stocked supermarket, the fresh fish stand and the homemade Italian ice cream to the restaurants, where you can choose between family-style Italian pizza and pasta cuisine at fair prices or Scandinavian style for an upscale fine dining experience.
With so much and such high quality equipment, it is easy to forget that the campsite is only separated from the wonderful North Sea beach by a stretch of dunes. The water is only at bathing temperature in summer. But the rougher seasons are extremely popular with neoprene-protected windsurfers. Blåvands Huk, a headland, forms the westernmost point of the Danish mainland. Only a little further south is the Skalligen peninsula, a largely nature-protected area with seal banks. Excursions there are offered with so-called tractor buses.
